oliver is quiet and thoughtful. not so much in an antisocial way, he's just more caught up in his thoughts to pay much attention to other people.
often, things he says can come across as insensitive. in most of these cases, he doesn't intend on coming across as rude. he just doesn't often let his thoughts wander to what kind of affect his words will have on people.
he can seem quite closed off. this is because he is afraid of opening up to people. perhaps it was due to being raised with a sister who used everything she could against him, but he is very distrustful, and afraid of what people would do with personal information about him.
he has discovered that the most affective way to hide who he truly is from people, is by lying. further more, lying is something that he is quite skilled at doing. lately though, he has begun to associate his lying with things that he hates to do. so he doesn't do it as much as he once did. instead he just tends to avoid topics that make him feel uncomfortable, or swiftly, and probably incredibly obviously, turn the conversation around in another direction before he has to answer.

once upon a time, in land far, far away, there lived a boy named oliver. this boy was just your typically normal boy. he had a normal family. and he lived in a normal house. the only thing that wasn't quite so normal about him was that he was smart in a not so normal way.

like in any fairy tale, oliver had enemies. unfortunately, his life was no disney movie though. his biggest enemy was not an evil stepmother, or a witch (this part is debatable) with a wart on her nose. instead, his enemy was his own flesh and blood. no, worse then that, his enemy was his twin sister.

he could only assume her hatred for him was fuelled by jealousy, although he sometimes wondered whether perhaps she was just born pure evil. for whatever reason, she used to bully him a lot when they were younger, both physically and mentally, until he got to the point where he hated her as much as she hated him.

oliver didn't let the "villain" of his story get him down though. instead he focused on his studies, so that when he was sixteen he graduated early from high school. the light at the end of the tunnel which had once been little more then a speck morphed into a giant wall of brightness, and he made his escape from his sister, moving to clover city, california.

once there, he sought education at worthington university and lived happily ever after.

only not really. In truth, this stage, the story get darker.

if he had thought that all his problems would disappear once he was away from his sister, he was incorrect. instead of settling down, he became incredibly homesick and begun to get distracted from his work. he was getting the lowest marks he had ever gotten in his life, and could think of nothing other then going back to his parents.

it was at this point that a new enemy emerged. one that was much worse then his sister. this enemy came in the form of an addiction. anything to give him the high that helped him to forget his problems - if only for a short while. He started small. alcohol, then marijuana. his problem grew until he got to the point where he was just buying anything and everything.

after several months of popping whatever he could get his hands on, oliver realised that he was getting low on funds. this caused him to freak out. he couldn't stay at college with out money. and he couldn't possibly bare to go home this way. if the thought of his parents disappointment at his failure wasn’t bad enough, then the mental image of his sisters gloating face definitely was.

so he found ways to earn the cash back...
